Analysed like the other cakra-goddess names: the -in suffix does the possessing, so the word is a derivative of sākinyambāsvarūpa. A bahuvrīhi reading, she who has Mother Sākinī for her form, is equally defensible. The Ṣaṭcakranirūpaṇa places Sākinī at the throat rather than at the root, one of the points where the two arrangements diverge.
